Friends are one of those things that bring joy to your life, but it doesn’t always comes easy. Sure, there are certain people who could coax Umbridge into hanging out with them. But for most of us, it can get difficult- especially if you’re an introvert! Since IBA is opening soon, this article will serve as guide for you on how to connect with people!
Make The First Move!
It goes without saying that introverts enjoy solitude. However, often times they do crave a sense of closure from a human being who is not related. So, friendships are as important to them as their time alone. The question is how to make friends? Making the first move is not easy. But, when you get the courage to talk to someone, you will realize how similar you guys are. Eventually, you’ll forget about the anxiety you were feeling before you approached the person. Be confident and make the first move, who knows you might end up finding a friend for a lifetime!
Step Away From The Internet!
I know what you’re thinking, so bold of me to say this while writing from a computer, right? Well, studies have shown that 67% of introverts feel comfortable via texting when talking to a person. Don’t get me wrong, you can make friends online. But, sometimes you need to talk to the person face to face. Nearly half of my circle admits that in-person conversations have helped them feel less lonely. As convenient as emailing and texting is, sometimes it is nice to grab a bite with a friend and chill.
Be Real!
What’s worst than having no friends is having a group of friends where you have to pretend for others to like you. Sometimes, it gets difficult and you just want to be around people even if the likes and dislikes are like fire and ice. Pretending to be someone you’re not is only going to hurt you in the long run. You will eventually lose your identity and question yourself more. It is important that you find people who like you for who you truly are.
It’s not wrong to be an introvert, it’s just a way of living. Sure, it gets hard sometimes. Especially when you can barely take care of yourself during the lockdown. But when you have friends around, things tend to feel better than they already are.
