Don of DPO: Riaz Ali Memon.

From increasing our caps during enrollment, writing poetry during the quarantine, or leaving crazy comments on IBA groups: he has done it all.

Early Career (From Lab In charge to Senior Executive)

Riaz Ali Memon joined IBA in 2008 as a Lab-in-charge. Then, he got a promotion to Executive IT support and procurement in 2011. In 2012 IBA transferred him to the Program office where he currently provides his services to the Institute. Finally, the Government promoted him to a 16-grade BPS in 2015. And now his title is Senior Executive since 2016.

Student Experiences

Because of his time in DPO, we have all at some point have gotten the chance to meet him. The enrollment seasons at IBA have always been that black hole with no one knowing what to do. One such instance that one student shared with us was during her enrollment.

This girl was in her last semester took a course with this teacher thinking she would ace it. But later she got to know that this class was at City Campus and she would have to come back to the main campus in half an hour for another class. Unwillingly, she still went through with it.

However, as soon as she took one class she knew she would fail, the teacher was just too tough. She started hyperventilating and crying because she had to graduate and she knew she would not be able to. At last, her hopes were dying out and she called Sir Riaz. He contacted someone from City Campus to help her out and then asked her to come to the main campus and helped her in dropping the course and selecting another with a relatively easy teacher at the main campus.

My First Encounter

Unfortunately, Sir Riaz was never involved in handling my own program which is Computer Science. My first encounter with him was during my midterm exam and he was invigilating the exam. At that point I didn’t know who he was (but could you blame me? It was an exam, I’m already stressed out enough). The exam was one of the lengthiest exams of my life and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to complete it. He kept pressing on me to give in the exam but thank God I still cleared that course with a good grade. Otherwise, I would’ve joined that long list of students who curse him all day.

Conclusion

Nevertheless, the don of DPO was kind enough to help me out with this article while being modest on his achievements for this Institute. We appreciate all your efforts and support to this university and thank you for all that you have done for all of us.
