As we approach mid-summers, there is one common question we all often hear: Internship milgaye kiya? Be it your family, friends or even long lost rishtedaar, everyone around is curious as to how you are spending your vacations.

Whether the answer to this internship question is yes or no, it does not decide your career. If you are doing an internship, then that is great. The experience will help you polish your skills and help you explore new opportunities.

But wait!

What happens if you did not get an internship yet? Does this mean you won’t get a job? Does it mean that you have failed all your goals? Does it mean that no company will ever want you? NO! CERTAINLY NOT!

No matter how disheartening rejections maybe, you should not let that one company or email be a barrier between you and your career. Because at the end of the day it is your commitment and skills that matter the most. You should always know your true potential and never let a rejection push your self confidence down. As a result, one day you might end up in a better position rather than what you are currently hoping for. Thus, it is extremely important to know your worth during these testing times.

Here are 5 things you can do to fully utilize your summer vacations:

  1. Join Career Development Center, IBA group on Facebook. Over here different opportunities keep coming up and who knows you might end up getting a better internship than what you are hoping for.
  2. Keep an eye on IBA Job Portal. Sign in here if you already have not as they too keep posting multiple opportunities on a regular basis.
  3. Learn a new skill. Explore what you are good at and learn new skills from YouTube or by borrowing a book from library. Be it related to studies or anything in general, what matters is your learning.
  4. Build up your LinkedIn profile. Add details of your experiences, tests, education, and skills and connect with as many professionals as you can. Moreover, LinkedIn too has an option to search for jobs. Thus, from there you can look for any part time or full-time internship opportunity.
  5. Spend some time on your health. If you are not a big fan of exercising, then spend 30-40 minutes every day doing yoga or just take a walk anywhere outside. This will not only help you stay fit, but also motivate you to do new things every day.
