Now that the first round of enrollment is almost over, let’s sit back and reflect on our post-enrollment trauma.
Enrollment was lucky for some of us as we ended up with a 5/5 or a 6/6. Whereas most of us are here struggling with either a “TBA” in front of our slots or with teachers whom we were dying to run away from. Whatsoever, it is time to admit that this is what we have to deal with for the next 5 months.
But why is enrollment so scary?
Well, the reason is simple. When 300 people want to get enrolled with one teacher, then there is a race of who gets enrolled first since the capacity of each slot is a maximum of 50, and I guess 40 now due to COVID. Thus, it is impossible for everyone to have it all!
Plus, considering the issues with IBA’s portal like crashes, failure of enrollment rights, and the error of “invalid course”, even when that course is in your appointment letter, gives everyone the horror of being one of those unfortunate students get stuck in such issues.

Now, what to do if your enrollment forces you onto the teachers, you never wanted to take?
The main reason why we put some courses or teachers on our “blacklist” is because of the reviews we read on them. Comments like “no learning, no grade” scare us. Thus, we feel that no matter how hard we try, we can never learn something out of that course. Nor end up with a fair grade. But is that really true?
There may be some teachers who expect a little more out of their students. But this does not make them “bad” teachers. It simply means that you as a student just need to work a little extra hard for that course.
So, instead of getting scared, and entering the first day of class with the mindset that “Ahh! No use of attending the lecture. This course will bring me no good”, start your semester on a positive note. Forget all the bad reviews, and just remember the useful tips on that teacher. As a consequence, you will notice, that with your efforts, and changed perspective you will eventually be able to learn better and even score a good grade!
