It all started when Zain received an Email from the IBA Incubation department of the Red Bull Basement Global Project. He had an idea, and within a fraction of a second, he decided to pursue it. He asked Hassan Zafar, his partner,
“Hassan do you want to go to Canada?”
Hassan was shocked at first, wondering what made Zain ask these sort of questions. Zain told him the idea, and Hassan was was excited to work on it. That’s how the foundations of CampAssist were set.

They started off with the 1st stage: a 60-second video explaining the idea. They worked hard on the video as to stand out- becoming able to deliver their idea and have a big impact on the audience. Furthermore, during the ‘Voting’ stage, they ran campaigns around the campus as well as outside the campus to gather votes.

Finally, the results came out. There were 250 total entries from Pakistan and CampAssist made its way to the top 5! Indeed, it was a tremendous milestone for both Zain and Hassan after a long and hard initial period of the competition. Also, both of them were optimistic about the success of their idea. Most amusing, that the news of them becoming the finalists from Pakistan was not a shock for them.
“We used to talk about starting the preparations for going to Canada- as if we have won the competition already“, said Zain.
Moreover, they were provided the facilities to develop their app for its presentation in the Global Workshop. They worked hard in programming the app, and did it with passion. As Zain and Hassan are in BS Computer Science in IBA, it proved beneficial for them.

“Indeed, It was an unparalleled experience at the Global Workshop”, said Zain.
Evidently, the Global Workshop is a place which hosts the best innovative ideas from all around the world. Ideas ranging from a weapon detecting camera to smart advertisement computers in Super Markets. The Global Workshop hosts ideas that can make a huge impact on the world.

Furthermore, the application developed by Zain and Hassan focused on solving issues faced by university students. For example, it uses geolocation to locate and categorize a group of students from an institute. For example, the application can be used if a student misplaces his/her books, keys etc. The application can be used to contact other students within the institute to resolve their issues. Also, Campassist can be used to trade books and other essentials for a university student.
Red Bull Basement is a Global Project aimed at bringing together the most ingenious people and innovative ideas to make an impact on the world.
