PSL 2020 Playoffs Resume
Pakistan Super League (PSL) has become one of the most popular Twenty20 cricket leagues worldwide. Playoffs Of The Current Season
The playoffs of the current edition of HBL PSL were scheduled earlier in March. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the remaining matches were called off to ensure the players’ safety and security. After an eight-month break, the league has moved to triumph with the playoffs to be played. It is scheduled to start from 14th November 2020 at the National Stadium, Karachi. PTV Sports and Geo Super will broadcast the matches in Pakistan. Simultaneously, advanced technologies, including an HD-production set-up comprising Hawkeye and DRS improvements, will also cover the remaining matches as well.
The three playoffs have taken place in the past few days and the final match is the most awaited by the cricket enthusiasts on 17th November, which is between the two traditional rivals, Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars. This is the first time Lahore has made it to the finals; before the team’s ill-fate and poor performances by the players caused immense disappointment in the side’s supporters. This season has brought a high level of excitement for the fans, and they have witnessed some nail-biting contests featuring their favorite teams. Due to the Pandemic, everyone is mentally stressed and PSL serves as a pain reliever.
Increased Frustration in Karachiites as Traffic Load Rises
While the cricket fraternity has rejoiced the recommencement of PSL 2020, we shouldn’t forget that an alternate-route plan has been devised for Karachi citizens during this period. Due to security concerns, all areas near the National Stadium have been closed. The usual traffic is opting for different routes. For instance, the traffic is rerouted to University Road because travelling via Hassan Square Flyover is prohibited. It has become a common practice of inconvenience that the citizens face whenever a PSL match occurs in Karachi. Due to this traffic diversion, there is greater congestion on alternate routes. Individuals have to spend a significant amount of time reaching their desired destinations. This increases their frustration and offsets the cricket league’s entertainment.
