The Trickery of IBA Enrollment:
Do you often find yourself twisted at the dozen emails and documents attached whenever you glance at your account? Me too! Although I would tell you there is nothing to worry about but even I know, that wouldn’t be the truth.
IBA enrollment system has been said to have been worsening each semester. We hear seniors around this time claim to have given up on any hopes of improvement. So, as a freshman, what central problems should you be terrified of experiencing during enrollment?
First come, First serve
You’re sitting on your computer. Your time slot for enrollment nearing as you glance at the clock. 1:03 pm, you open the portal and boom! You are hit with disappointment.
One of the major problems facing enrollment at IBA is of courses. Many programs are not offered adjustability when it comes to courses. Some of us have to resort to what we can get. About 3 minutes in, you see most of the students are rushing to get whatever they can.
If this were to happen in real life, there would be no room for an apple to fall.
Blue Square? It was just green!
So you have a specific teacher in mind before enrolling. You’ve even gotten to the part of putting the class in your cart. You glance away for a second and the next thing you see is the green circle has turned into a blue square.
You are devastated, rightfully so. When 300 students want to get enrolled with one teacher, it causes a frenzy. There is a race going on to see who can get the best teacher. Group chats are filled with dramatic stickers, “I didn’t get XYZ teacher!” Certainly, it is a horror for newly recruited freshmen to go through.
Error 404!
At times, the portal crashes due to the rush. Students from all over the place will be hurrying to get their courses. The feelings of frustration when the portal refuses to open? No wonder the time for enrollment at IBA goes on for hours. To my disbelief, many students are not even enrolled when the semester starts!
How to deal with the enrollment process?
Student tips:
Now and then, we gather tips from seniors on how to make the enrollment process at IBA smoother. Some say we should open the portal 10 seconds before the time. Some say ten seconds after. Applications such as IBA Scheduler, student-created, have certainly helped a lot.
There have been some remarkable students, such as Anas Khan, who have gone out of their way to create user-friendly websites to enable students to enjoy the process of enrollment. Although it is not sure when the new system will launch, we will be waiting for it!
Admin Aid:
Regardless of student methods of coping with enrollment, the process at IBA continues to cause chaos. The real solutions to our problems are in the hands of the admin. The staff should work on making the portal more sustainable to take online traffic. Moreover, the limitation of teachers at IBA should be taken into notice along with the course allocation.
Conclusion
To conclude, issues of enrollment have been going on for far too long. Students have constantly complained to the admin. IBA Enrollment should be rightfully coordinated if students are managing it.
For many freshmen, it will be an experience they will not be looking forward to. In this case, I’d like to remind everyone that at the end of the day, we’re all stuck in this together!
