IBA and KU have had a rocky past: their rivalry has existed since the dawn of these institutes. Furthermore, some attribute it to the clash of ideologies, and some attribute it to some deep-seated jealousy. However, the root of such rivalry is unknown. Nevertheless, whatever is the reason behind such hatred between the two prestigious institutes, this week adds a new chapter to this rivalry.
What happened?
The incident in question took place on 13th February 2021. However, there are various variations to this incident. What is confirmed is the following sequence of events: A scuffle took place between some IBA students and a KU professor. The argument blew out of proportion when the IBA guards slapped the KU professor. According to some accounts, the KU professor was misbehaving with the students prior to the scuffle. However, some accounts also state that the KU professor wanted to enter the IBA premise as the students ran inside IBA after crashing into the professor’s car.
The aftermath of the incident
Following this event, KU has banned IBA students and faculty from entering KU. Furthermore, KU has announced to have a protest regarding this incident tomorrow at 10 am. The conditions of this protest revolve around the removal of the students and guards involved in this incident. Moreover, some of the conditions stated are very aggressive in nature; they involve releasing pictures of the people involved in this incident to the press and to abolish the occupation of land by institutes such as IBA.
IBA has decided to proceed with the day as usual and has promised to assist the students with the transport. Students are asked to park their vehicles at the Maskan gate, where the IBA shuttles will escort them to the main campus.
The conclusion: What will be the future of the rivalry between IBA and KU?
One cannot deny that the guard’s action was wrong and justice should be served. However, the reaction of the KU staff to the whole incident is “childish” to say the least. I feel it is high time that KU starts acting in a mature manner. Through dialogue between the deans of these institutes, the issue at hand can be resolved. The protest will just increase the hostility between these two institutes and that will result in no good.

Why are we not talking about if the professor misbehaved or did something wrong with guard. There’s a reaction to every single action. Same as here there must be something which forced the guard and the student to do so.as far as we know none of our faculty member or the student is of that kind or brought up with such teachings. We respect and have ethical behavior towards every single person.
