Education determines the prosperity of a human being and a nation. It is a critical component that puts on stake the future of every human being. The responsibility to deliver an adaptive and valuable Education System is of the State, while the nation is responsible to honor it and deliver the best outcome for their Country.
An education system has to be flexible to cater to the changing dynamics of the World. Finland hosts such an education system- making it among top rankings and while also making its citizens diverse.
Finland’s Education System
Finland has a very adaptive and easy education system. First and foremost, the ability to access education is a fundamental component. Hence, in Finland pre-school to higher education is provided free of charge. Because of this, Finland has been able to keep a high position in literacy ranking.
No Standardized Testing
Furthermore, Finland’s schools don’t assess students on the basis of standardized testing. Indeed, standardized testing leads students to cram just to pass the test. And, it leaves the teacher to teach for the sole purpose of clearing the examinations. Instead, Finland uses a ‘National Matriculation Exam’ voluntary for the students of High School, the grading criteria of which is set by the teachers. Evidently, this criteria leads the Finnish students towards learning and excellence.
Cooperation not Competition
Additionally, Finland’s motto is ‘Cooperation not Competition’. Finland does not focus on winning competitions. In fact, there is no available list of best schools or best colleges in Finland. Consequently, this positive attitude towards a more balanced education system has proved to be beneficial for Finland and an example for those who seek it.

The teachers as well are required to have a Master’s degree in order to join the profession. Finland allows kids to wait until they are seven to start school. Moreover, education after age 16 is optional in Finland. Overall, the Finnish Education System is flexible and easy yet excellent at the same time as it bounds no one to adhere to it.
What Pakistan Should Learn
Finland is an example of prosperity and diversity in terms of education. Pakistan should provide ease in education by making its state-owned schools better and improve their standards. The purpose of studying solely for clearing ‘examinations’ should change to gaining ‘excellence’. Indeed, Pakistan has institutes that host quality education. But, quality education should be provided to everyone.
On the whole, it is the responsibility of both the state and the nation to cooperate and work for the betterment of the education provided to citizens. In the same way, Pakistani students too have a responsibility to work with sincerity and deliver the best result for the country.
