A typical day of a university student is quite tough with a hectic schedule. Recreational activities then become a necessity but, are drugs included in that list as well? Let us unfold for you the mystical world of drugs and what underpins their use by university going students.

The Drug Bazaar

Before we begin, how does one buy drugs? The answer is, one does not buy them, one scores them. Moreover, one does not score drugs, one scores stuff, jora, or a packet – all names for hashish or weed. Scoring is a popular term used to imply the buying of a drug: usually hashish or chars in this context. The idea is to first connect to a middle man(dealer), who tells you the “rate of a packet”. A secluded alleyway, a lonely parking lot – shady places in general – is then communicated as a pick-up point where the exchange happens. And how do you get connected to a dealer you ask? We do not know but contact the man below at: 25minutes-mein-happiness-double@memes.com

Scoring is one of the most common methods to get your hands onto a pack of weed, usually available for PKR 1000 minimum. However, it is not the most cost-effective method. For one, it involves a middle-man, and for two, you pay extra for the convenience the dealer provides you.

Get A Dose

As Drake once said, “I mean where the f@#k should I really even start.”. There are at least 5-6 different places within the campus that paves easy access for drug activity. Outskirts of grounds, garden (organic or otherwise), the back of the court, anywhere shady, are some primary “hot-spots“. An honorable mention should also be given to the parking lots, the hottest of all hotspots for high-achievers Since smoking substances like weed and marijuana can easily be camouflaged as smoking cigarettes, it’s quite obvious that wherever you can smoke cigarettes, you can also smoke drugs.

Hostels are another major breeding ground for drug-related affairs at universities. Students have been known to best utilize the hostel for their daily high-achievements. Personal dorm rooms provide the perfect private space to freely engage in such activities.

We are as confused as you are…

Honestly, Why Drugs?

“Boredom led to curiosity, and boom goes Talha puffing and coughing…”. We all have heard this story before, and while the answer might seem simple, we, at iba-today, always dig deeper for our audience.

In one interview, a high-achiever revealed that societal pressure exposed him to drug abuse. Once admitted to University, he was expected to “do more” and make something of himself. While struggles at university brought despair, weed was a way to get that instant dose of happiness. According to them, there hasn’t been a way back ever since, the irony of being a hi(high) – achiever.

Another user who talked with us explained how being away from home brought homesickness. Drugs then seemed the only friend to provide a safe haven from this feeling.

In another interview, a user revealed that peer pressure had led them to drug abuse. The fear of being left out away from home and family led to individuals joining “dark social circles” which seemed really colorful and cool in the beginning but later changed to their true color.

A pattern that runs in all these stories points towards a psychological need commonly known as escapism. Students badly wanting to escape mental pressure, opt out for a simple, cheap, easy to get, instant fix.

Is It Really That Bad?

Remember, priority is the golden word. As soon as your priorities change, you change, your growth trajectory changes, and most importantly, your direction in life changes. Drugs might seem like cool, fun, little things to play around with, but sooner than you know, it starts messing with your brain.

Frequent use of these drug releases compounds known as cannabinoids. Consequently, when the drugs are not active in the brain, uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms and powerful cravings may occur – according to medical research. This is when you want another dose, but you can’t get it, leading to addiction.

All this leads to mental problems like depression, paranoia, aggressiveness, and anxiety which ultimately changes your priorities from aiming for that dream job at the Big 4 to get that one more puff of wickedness…

Networking of the wrong kind

The importance of personal branding and networking – Red Team Tips

Go back two or three years, I wouldn’t be writing this. Why? Because I wouldn’t have known about it. Why, you ask? It wasn’t that big of an issue. Today, however, it is. Every other person I know smokes a joint or jora. People who would have been far away from such business, are now in the game with both their hands.

Its to the point that a sense of fearlessness has prevailed in social circles, which is why there is such an easy access for anyone. This makes it certain that low barrier to entry is the number one reason for such a blooming sector.

My last question?

Yet, with all this said above, all I ask is this: would this be a problem in a city, a society, that allows people to pursue their passion and hobbies? A city with more parks, less restaurants and more clubs?
