After a 3-weeks-long winter break, we are now back on campus. There are several things which happen at the beginning of a semester at IBA. These range from numerous emails from the Program Office to finding transportation to campus. This article will give you an insight into 5 thoughts you might have at the beginning of each semester.
1. Enrollment…..
It is a well known fact that enrollment at IBA has never been very easy. From the day enrollment is announced to the day the semester begins, enrollment is something which is the most talked and thought about amongst students. Will I get my desired courses or not? Will the DPO come up with a new policy and de-enroll me from my courses? Whether the allotted teacher will actually teach or not? This was evident in the first week of this semester when there were never-ending queues outside Program Office.
2. I Will Get Good Grades This Semester!!!
“Iss semester aag laga deni hai” is a phrase that is very commonly used by IBA students. So you finally have all your courses, you are highly optimistic about the progress you will make in this semester and determined to get on the Dean’s List. This thought is most common amongst Freshmen students, but after spending a few semesters at IBA, this optimism slowly fades away.
3. Where Is My Class?
At the beginning of the semester or more specifically on the first day of the semester, a lot of time is spent looking for our classrooms. Imagine, it is the first day of the semester and you are all set to make a good impression on your new teachers. You reach campus on time, despite the Maskan traffic. You go to Adamjee building for your 1st slot class only to find out that the class has been shifted to Aman CED. It’s already 8:33 and now it’s you vs time.
4. Where Are My Friends??
So you’ve attended the class and now you’re at SC or Tabba looking for your friends, but you see no one. You can’t text them because of course IBA’s WiFi isn’t working. Turns out your friends aren’t free in the same slot as you. Now you’ll just have to figure out how to spend all the free time you have, alone. The first few days of the semester are spent figuring out which of your friends are free in which slots so that you can meet them.
5. Is There Finally Any Good Food At IBA?
You’re hungry and are looking for something to eat. Although IBA has plenty of food options, the food is either mediocre in taste or is too expensive for a student who has almost no money. The first few days of the semester are spent looking for decent food you could eat. Most of the time this search ends with you resorting to bringing food from home.
Conclusion
The first few days of a new semester may be chaotic and you may feel clueless at times. But once you figure things out, you can actually have some fun at IBA. Here’s wishing you all good luck for the new semester!!
