If I were to summarize my first semester in one word, that would be “DEADLINES“.*insert chaos in the background* And I speak on behalf of the entire freshman batch when I make this claim- the academic commitments proved to be undeniably overwhelming for us.
In my quest to search for recreational opportunities, I came across an aesthetically pleasing poster on the IBA music society’s Facebook page. IBA’s music society was organizing an event named Saaz-O-Awaaz on Tuesday 23rd November, in the OBS courtyard IBA main campus. Even though traveling from city campus all the way to main seemed immensely draining, just the thought of my friends and I jamming along the sweet melodies fascinated me. Therefore, I dragged my exhausted self to the launch event.
Waves Of Tranquility At The Launch
Frankly speaking, I expected the OBS courtyard to be drowned in gloominess and cheerlessness. But, to my surprise, the courtyard was transformed into a euphoric wonderland. The ambiance was intensified with eye-catching decorations and serene lights. As soon as I took my first step in the courtyard, I lost myself in the joyous state of utopia. Yes, I’m aware of how exaggerated this might sound but sensationalism? I’m not a fan and never have been. Apologies if I’m being too informal but surely IBA Music Society’s newly recruited management team knew their assignment well.
Warm feelings, wonderful people, and fantastic music in a cozy illuminated courtyard. It was a happy time in the world.

Highlights Of The Launch
The event marked its beginning with what I would call its main feature- the jamming session with IBA students among the audience participating enthusiastically. I would’ve loved to torture the audience with my hideous vocals but my lack of self-confidence saved everyone from a live traumatic experience. Watching the volunteers dedicate songs to cherish their friendship and express their gratitude was particularly heartwarming.
Moreover, The melodious echoes of students singing were a perfect strike of nostalgia and the current top-trending hits. While being well-aware of my dreadful vocal skills, I perfectly managed to conceal them behind the crowd’s collective voice. While resisting the urge to bop to the rhythmic beats of the drum circle, my friends and I made sure to capture every moment in memorable pictures. The launch of the IBA Music Society indeed proved to be unforgettable .
It went beyond expectations and was so fun, loved the electrifying atmosphere and the crowd was fantastic!
Dibs On The Waffles
I’m a major foodie. Deprive me of appetizing food in events and watch me throw uncontrollable tantrums. The management team of the IBA Music Society arranged for us a stall of the in-demand Wafflix. While I was devouring the waffles, my friends slurped on the refreshing slushies.
A Hype Well-Deserved
Regrets are a major part of our lives, aren’t they? Even though I did not regret willingly attending the event, the torturous waves of regret took control of me when I was informed of this- the widely popular and inspirational band “Khudgarz” performed soon after I departed. As a whole, IBA Music Society put forward a great opportunity for my friends and me to relieve ourselves of the academic stress, that was building upon us since the very beginning of the semester. Hats off to the efforts put in!
