Karachi is often regarded as one of Pakistan’s most cuisine-oriented cities. Its Biryani is nationally celebrated. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that IBA doesn’t hold back when it comes to food either. From its many stalls to cafes and vending machines- IBA has it all. One stall that I make particularly frequent visits to is Raptor.
Raptor is a shack which makes up part of the dine-in cafeteria in the Students Alumni Centre at the main campus. For the city campus, it’s put up right in front of the Faysal building, so even freshmen can enjoy its tasty sandwiches during their breaks!
The decision of picking which menu items I was going to review was a hard one. Ultimately though, I settled for writing about the one that quite readily sold as my favourite comfort junk food: burgers! Here’s a list of my top three burgers- a.k.a the ones that have me coming back time and time again!
3. The Beef Burger
Coming in third place, Raptor’s beef burgers are packed with flavor. Although, its serving size may seem small compared to the size of its patty, once you bite into that beefy goodness, there’s no going back. With your taste buds excited, the only thing you crave now is another bite, and the only fear you have is that this experience may end soon. While you eat it, you’ll taste how the cheese complements the minced beef patty perfectly. Also, the fries and salad add enough variety that you can almost call this a perfect meal. My compliments to the chef!
2. The Zinger Burger
Raptor’s Zinger burger takes second place on my list. This crowd pleaser, especially when ordered with cheese, is worth your money. Priced at Rs. 200, its greasy, crusty chicken patty will hypnotize you with one look and you’ll be salivating for it in no time. It’s no wonder that its the most commonly ordered meal from the stall.
1. The Club Sandwich
Raptor has a lot of good burgers, but the winner is the club sandwich! Now I know what you’re probably thinking, “Club sandwiches are not burgers!”. Well, technically yes, but they’re just so good that I couldn’t help it!
For Rs. 180, you get satisfying serving size with the right amounts of chicken, egg, and veggies- an ideal lunch! The soft, toasted bread stirs up a feeling of fullness, without provoking the feeling of heaviness. More so, it’s not as greasy as you might think, so that’s another plus!
Unfortunately, as delectable as it is, I do feel that this item is underrated. This may be because not enough people may have tried it. So, come on! Give it a shot and let me know if it takes the cake for you too!
