As part of the new normal brought by COVID-19, IBA is conducting a vaccination drive for alumni, faculty, staff, and IBA students along with their immediate family members.
The vaccination drive took place from 14th June to 18th June. Due to a shortage of vaccines, the drive could not take place on 16th June. However, now the vaccination drive has again been resumed from 23rd June 2021 onwards from 10 am to 4 pm.
Where is it and what is the vaccination procedure like?
The vaccination drive takes place at IBA Alumni Student Center, Main Campus, and the management and some student volunteers handle the procedure very efficiently.
Upon entering, volunteers will hand you a token number and escort you to the waiting area, that is, the badminton court. You can wait without any hassle as there are 50-60 seats in the waiting area. After every 2-3 minutes, volunteers will call out a token number, and if it’s your turn, then you will be escorted to the registration area.
There are four registration booths in the center area of the student center. Students have to bring their IBA ID cards, whereas, family members must bring their CNIC. After getting registered, you will receive a vaccination card and head over to get your blood pressure checked. Then you will go to the student centre lounge and wait for your turn. There are two booths over there, one for males and one for females. After going into the booth, the nurse will cross-check your card and vaccinate you within a minute.
Which vaccine is IBA administering?
During the first week of the vaccination drive, IBA was administering Sinopharm. However, from 23rd June 2021 onwards IBA is administering the Sinovac vaccine.
How long does it take to get vaccinated?
The vaccination itself is a 2-minute procedure, however, waiting takes up most of the time. It takes around 45 minutes for your turn to come once you receive your token. Ideally, you would want to go around 5 – 10 minutes before the drive starts. This way you will be able to get done as quickly as possible. After 11 am usually more people start coming and the rush keeps on increasing till evening.
What should you carry?
For IBA students, faculty, and staff you just need your IBA ID card as it has all your details including your CNIC. Apart from this, you just need to tell your phone number and vaccination registration code that you get when you message your CNIC number to 1166. On the other hand, immediate family members need to carry their CNIC and know their vaccination registration code.
Does the vaccination hurt?
To be honest, it just feels like a pinch that lasts for 5 seconds. But to be on the safe side, do stay hydrated so that you do not feel dizzy. Instead of immediately leaving, sit and relax for 30 minutes in the waiting room to see if you feel any adverse symptoms. However, if you feel you are good to go then you may also leave immediately.
